The Property Loan Stock Association (PLSA) is the representative umbrella body of the property loan stock sector comprised of voluntary members, with the weight of nearly all of the funds within the sector behind it.
This association has been modelled on NAREIT (National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts) in the United States.
To promote listed property as an investment class, in particular property loan stocks, while addressing issues and meeting challenges within the sector.
Listed property offers investors a uniquely affordable and secure way to enter the property investment market – without the risk and expense of holding property assets directly. Property represents a relatively stable investment choice; earnings can be forecast fairly accurately thanks to rental income flows; and investors are able to diversify their portfolios across both geography and different property
sectors.
Indeed, despite the economic trials of the past two years, listed property has beenone of the best-performing asset classes in SA.
Property Loanstocks (PLS) are one type of listed property vehicle that investors can use to access the sector. The Property Loanstock Association of SA (PLSA) represents property loan stocks nationally, backed by the weight of almost all the funds in the sector.
As the unified voice of property loan stocks in SA, we believe the PLSA plays a pivotal role in communicating about listed property in general and PLSs in particular. For this reason, our strategic priorities are aimed at making the property loan stock sector clearly heard and understood – not only to lobby regulatory bodies on matters of common interest or concern, but also to raise awareness of property loan stockswith the financial media, the wider investment community, and individual investors themselves.
For members, we also provide knowledge-driven opinion and policy, with an emphasis on international best practice, and representation on various commercial property working groups.
Whether you are an existing member, or just getting started in listed property, we welcome you to the PLSA website. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or queries.
Sincerely,
Norbert Sasse
PLSA Chairman
